Greetings and Salutations!!
I am a graduate of Coastal Carolina University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and my Master's in the Art of Teaching in Secondary Science after moving to the area from Westfield, Massachusetts. I grew up there my entire life and graduated from Westfield High School in 2000. I knew I wanted to live near the beach and study Marine Science, so Coastal was a great opportunity to stretch my wings and fly on down South. After spending time on the beautiful campus my first year, I decided to broaden my studies to include all Biology, and upon completing my undergraduate degree, I discovered my passion for education and teaching. I then completed the year-and-a-half graduate program that allowed me to enter this amazing profession!
I taught locally at Georgetown High School for five years before relocating to the mountains of western North Carolina. I gained amazing perspective and experience from my students and colleagues at Georgetown that have helped to form the foundation of the teacher I am today. I moved to the Asheville area in 2010 along with my husband, Ben, and cat, Luna. The beauty of the nature in the area quickly grabbed my attention, and I thought, " I have to live here!"
I worked with a Science outreach program called High Touch High Tech, based in Asheville, for two years before coming to Landrum. I traveled the western NC area as well as the Upstate of SC, sharing my love for Science with elementary and preschool-level children through exploration and experimentation.
In 2012, I became a Landrum Cardinal! Even though I still reside in NC (Henderson County), my heart is here. I am so blessed to be a part of this wonderful family here at LHS and am super excited to continue my teaching career here. I am teaching all Earth Science this semester and am looking forward to adding more innovative activities and integrating technology to help students learn and understand even more about the ever-changing world of Science!
In my downtime, I try to spend as much time outside and traveling as possible. Ben and I have two additional companions on our travels now. Benjamin Louis Ramsay V, our son, is twelve and is in 7th grade, and Ellis Monroe Ramsay, who is nine and is in 4th grade! We enjoy camping, hiking, live music and sports, and swimming in area waterfalls and swimming holes, and skiing in the winter! We also now enjoy two beautiful kitties' snuggles and purrs~ S'mores and Squishmallow; each brings a unique personality to our family, and we love them :)
I am looking forward to attending many school and community events here in Landrum as well.
I would love to hear about you and your student as well, so please feel free to use the contact link below. I am looking forward to another great school year!
Go Cardinals!!!!
